Let's Talk

"Let's Talk" is an engaging activity organized by the Mental Health Student Association (MHSA), where they select a specific topic related to mental health and facilitate interactive discussions with a diverse audience comprising students.

This activity aims to create a safe and inclusive space for students to openly share their perspectives, experiences, and concerns regarding the chosen mental health topic. Through these discussions, participants gain valuable insights, knowledge, and support from their peers, fostering a sense of community and understanding.

"Let's Talk" encourages active participation and encourages individuals to ask questions, offer suggestions, and learn from each other's lived experiences.

Visit To Old-Age Home

Thapar Institute Counselling Cell had an enriching and deeply meaningful experience during their visit to an old age home. A delegation from TICC visited the Aged Day Care and Wellness Centre in Village Rongla, Patiala on 12 October 2022.

TICC ambassadors engaged in valuable conversations with the elderly residents, discussing their interests and life experiences. The joy and happiness reflected on their faces brought a sense of fulfillment that is difficult to put into words.

This visit was both meaningful and rewarding, providing an opportunity to create a positive impact in their lives and develop a greater appreciation for the wisdom and experiences they possess.

School Visit

"A bonfire has to be consistently fed dry sticks to burn brightly and spread its warmth."

Today's young students are the bonfires that would uphold and illuminate the future of our country and their communities. They need to be nurtured, and their mental and emotional well-being should be catered to.

With this aim in mind, Dr. Sonam Dullat, Manager (student counsellor) and a delegation of Mental Health Student Ambassadors from TICC accompanied by Rotaract Club and Echoes, visited Ryan International School, Patiala on World Mental Health Day(10th October 2022) and organised a lively and interactive session wherein importance of mental health related conversations, self love and meditation were discussed.

Group Counselling Sessions

Spider Robinson once said, “Pain shared is pain lessened.”
To promote community mental health, TICC's Manager (Student Counsellor), Dr Sonam Dullat holds engaging and supportive group counselling sessions designed specifically for college students.

These sessions aim to create a safe space for students facing similar concerns to gather and share their experiences. Under the aegis of Dr Sonam, students learn to navigate their concerns whilst also developing a sense of community and inclusivity.

Through these shared experiences, students gain valuable insights, learn effective coping mechanisms, and hence improve their overall sense of well-being through interacting with each other in a non-judgmental environment.
With the help of our counsellor, and the support of fellow group members, group counselling sessions succeed in aiding each member's personal growth and healing.

TICC x CCS

TICC and CCS came along to conduct an Internship Talk on 19th of April, 2023, wherein we provided an inclusive and interactive environment to clear students' doubts.

The session was held by a panel of speakers, from CCS and TICC, interned at companies such as Arcesium, JPMC, LinkedIn, Texas Instruments, Samsung, STOA and more. The session opened a window of hope for many and acted a reinforcement for those already moving on the right path to crack their dream internships.

The session facilitated positive surroundings for students to ask their doubts and also laid stress on ways of maintaining mental well-being during the hectic process of landing an internship.

Bootcamp Series

"There is no real ending. It's just the place where you stop the story" - Frank Herbert.

TICC recently concluded its inaugural Bootcamp Series and we fondly look back on the myriad of knowledge, thrilling sessions and happiness it emanated.

True to it's motto : "Technically skilled, mentally strong",
the series consisted of an array of technical workshops which provided its attendees with the technical knowledge to hone their skills, and a safe space to learn. In this competitive world, it can feel hard to learn new things without feeling the pressure to excel but these Bootcamp sessions have taught students how to learn while prioritising their mental health.

School Delegation

On 29th April 2023, Thapar Institute Counselling Cell (TICC) made a visit to Government Senior Secondary Smart School in Model Town, Patiala to commemorate World Healing Day, under the guidance of Dr. Sonam Dullat.

During the visit, the TICC team conducted an engaging session on goal setting and techniques to enhance focus, which received positive feedback from the students.

The session featured a skit performance by the TICC team, emphasizing the significance of making independent choices rather than blindly following peers.
Additionally, an art therapy activity was conducted to explore individual strengths and weaknesses, followed by a talk on techniques to improve focus and the importance of setting goals in life. The session also provided an opportunity for students to address their personal queries.
